Its most recent dual-branded restaurant opening was in Leon, Mexico, and the company is contemplating opening more in the US, CEO John Peyton said. The 2002 annual report for Yum Brands, the parent company of Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and KFC, among other restaurant chains, lays out why the much-memed combination Taco Bell-Pizza Hut existed in the first place. In the past, some restaurant brands have put together brands that don't complement each other, said Rob Seely, associate vice president of operations, strategy, and design at WD Partners, which advises restaurant brands. Do you work at a major restaurant like McDonald's, Pizza Hut, or Taco Bell and have a story idea to share?

CNN —Countless creative ideas have been born in the kitchen of Charleston House, the bohemian modernist farmhouse inhabited from 1916 by painters Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell in a rural part of southern England. Courtesy Osman Yousefzada“What I do is try and tell working class stories in highbrow institutional spaces,” Yousefzada told CNN in a phone interview. “Even now, generations on, Charleston is still a very aspirational and very privileged space, but I try and subvert that.., to open the space for working class voices,” said Yousefzada. “A warning, caution.”"Unless you're signposted that having a creative life is OK, it's not an easy path to take," said Yousefzada. I grew up in a restricted monoculture and so it took me a long time to find those (artistic) spaces.

I hereby pardon Liberty and Bell. Even though Liberty and Bell are from Minnesota, they’re named for a famous Liberty Bell in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania. And President Biden, who turned 81 on the same day he spared a pair of birds, wanted to get one thing straight. “I was too young to make it,” Mr. Biden said as he saved the lives of Liberty and Bell, each weighing in at 42 pounds and change. VALENCIA, Spain (AP) — The heavyweight title fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury now appears likely to be held in February. I will be sure when I’m the ring,” Usyk said. That was before Fury got knocked down and nearly defeated by Francis Ngannou, an MMA fighter making his boxing debut. “I want this to work out, I want this fight to happen,” the 36-year-old Usyk said from his training camp in Valencia. Earlier talks for a Fury-Usyk fight fell apart in March, with Warren blaming a disagreement over terms for a rematch.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina Republicans enacted vote-count restrictions and weakened the governor's ability to oversee elections and other state regulatory bodies on Tuesday by overriding Democratic Gov. But Cooper and his allies contend the election legislation is an attack on voting that will give Republicans the upper hand on close results. The state elections board has been five members, with the governor’s party historically holding three of the seats. The law says the new state board also would have barely a week to decide whether to keep current state elections Executive Director Karen Brinson Bell on the job or hire someone else. And an energy bill designed to encourage nuclear energy production and the legislature’s annual “regulatory reform” measure also are now law.

Miami began the day with its magic number whittled to one following another late comeback victory on Friday night. Miami used a 17-9 September surge to vault over San Francisco, Chicago and surprising Cincinnati in the standings. Two of North Carolina's top GOP leaders encouraged Tricia Cotham to run for office last year, per The Times. Cotham, from a family with deep Democratic roots, flipped to the GOP three months into her new term. And then Cotham in April made a decision that immediately transformed North Carolina politics, as she switched from the Democratic Party to the GOP, giving the latter party supermajorities in both the state House and state Senate. What was previously unknown until now was that top North Carolina Republicans — namely House Speaker Tim Moore and House Majority Leader John Bell — had encouraged Cotham to run for the seat last year, according to The Times. Jonathan Coby, Cotham's former campaign consultant, told The Times that Cotham was irate over her political predicament.

Writers walk the picket line on the second day of the television and movie writers' strike outside Disney Studios in Burbank, California on May 3, 2023. A writers strike, a feud in Florida and ongoing company-wide layoffs — there is a lot more than quarterly earnings for CEO Bob Iger and the Walt Disney Company to address on Wednesday. As the pandemic era fades, Disney has staged a rapid financial recovery within most of its divisions, from theme parks to theatrical entertainment. Additionally, the company is already seeing rippling effects from the ongoing writers strike, including the production shutdowns of Marvel Studios' "Blade," which was set to begin filming in Atlanta next month, as well as the Disney+ Star Wars series "Andor." There is also the third wave of expected layoffs within the company, that industry experts expect to see announced soon.
Amazon needs to watch out for Charlie Bell. A founder of Amazon Web Services and the firm's "best person in the room," Bell shook the industry last September when he joined Microsoft. Bell will be overseeing a new cybersecurity division at Microsoft — but insiders at both Amazon and Microsoft wonder if he'll go more directly up against his former employer. My colleague Ashley Stewart examines the growing threat of Microsoft now that Bell is free from his noncompete purgatory. Look into the future here for Bell — and Microsoft — without Amazon's restrictions.

Target on Tuesday will report holiday-quarter results, as retailers brace for a year that appears poised to bring slower sales and more price-conscious customers. Yet over the past year, Target has faced a shift in both sales trends and market sentiment. The company has missed Wall Street's earnings expectations for three consecutive quarters and warned investors to expect soft holiday sales. Alongside its fiscal fourth-quarter results, Target is expected to share full-year guidance at an investor day in New York City. Groceries account for just 20% of Target's sales, while Walmart gets more than half of its sales from the frequency-driving category.
